Happy New Year
"Happy New Year" is "謹賀新年" in all Kanji in Japanese. It's a typical, formal saying in a new year's card.
LOL
In case of chatting, (笑) is very often used as lol in English. It's used of course in chat and more in email, blog, which is easy to be used in Japanese.
Love
"Love" is "愛"(ai) in Japanese. If the people say "I love you", it's said in Japanese "愛している"(ai-shite-iru). Do not say "I shit you", this is a famous gag in Japan.
